PR status will enable you to purchase HDB flats, provided you are married/ have a family unit amongst other eligibility criteria. As a single PR, one is not allowed to buy HDB unit even over 35 years of age.
As mentioned by other agents earlier, PR status is also likely to assist in getting a and/or higher mortgage loan to fund your purchase if necessary.
As a foreigner, condominium projects is the main type of property you are eligible to buy with written approval. Additional approval from SLA will be required if you are looking to buy landed property in Singapore.
