Hi! I'm 27 Singaporean and am living in a 2-rm rental flat with my parents (in their 50s). Prior to a rental we were living in a 3-rm flat they bought but later gave up on paying the mortgage and downgraded to a 2-rm rental. I am thinking of buying a 3-rm flat with one of them as Buyer 2 and one of them as occupier. Would we be eligible for any grants? Also, I might move overseas in about 3-5 years. During that time, I am planning of renting out 1 bedroom. The rule says that the owner has to be living in the apartment while you rent out a room. Is that okay, as long as buyer 2 is living in it? Thank you so much!

That's a lot of questions, it'd be better to ask the questions face-to-face lest any miscommunication breakdown.

Hi

Based on your profile, you might not be eligible to enjoy any grants unless the flat previously bought by your parents is not a subsidised one. However you can proceed to purchase a HDB resale together with one of your parents without any grant. Yes you may rent out 1 bedroom during the MOP period even when you are overseas. I am specialise in HDB market segment. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussions on this.
