Do take note that you have to eligible to purchase a resale HDB and you have to fulfill minimum occupation period of 5 years before you can rent out the whole HDB.
Usually you can look at capital appreciation and rental yield in an investment perspective.
HDBs will definitely have better rental yield than condos because of its lower entry price but condos will ultimately outwin in terms of capital appreciation.
For instance, 10% increase in price.
1) HDB - $50k for $500k HDB
2) condo - $100k for $1m condo.
