Hi,

I have filed my Notice of Marriage in Dec 21 and am getting married in late Feb 22.

I am 35 years old now and am exploring the possibility of buying a resale 3 room hdb under the Singles Singapore Citizen Scheme before I get married. I am sourcing for a unit in Jan 22 and hope that I can submit the application by end Jan 22. After my marriage, my fiance will be getting a condo under his name.

1) Given that I have only 1.5 months to my ROM. Is the above arrangement feasible?
2) Am I right to say that as long as I am single (i.e. have not signed on the certificate of marriage) as at the date of submission of application to hdb, I am still eligible for the Singles Singapore Citizen Scheme?
3) If I am married by the time I get my keys to the 3 room resale hdb, will there be an issue?

Appreciate your advice!

Thank you!

Good afternoon Mdm,

resale HDB purchase might take minimum 2.5 months to complete the whole process. It's not possible for your case. Furthermore HDB usually will require your spouse to be added into the flat as owner or occupier. You can double confirm with HDB on this.

I can understand your intention of owning two properties under 2 names. Perhaps we can run through some figures to see whether can both of you capitalise on the opportunity to own 2 properties in current property climate.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry.

May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

Hi Ms,

Unless you delay your marriage, I'm afraid the timeline is too tight for you. You might wish to consider purchasing the HDB flat under Public Scheme instead. Alternatively, you may wish to consider private property right from the start.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.
