Hi I became a joint tenant with my mum for current HDB 20 years ago, and my dad who was one of the original joint tenant became essential occupier. I had just started work then and my parents wanted me to pay for the renaming housing loan with my CPF back then (which has since been fully paid off). I had not bought my first HDB yet, but went on to purchase a condo. Am I still eligible for HDB grants and subsidised housing if I were to apply for a HDB? What do I have to do to be eligible? Can I do it after my retirement when my income will fit the salary range for HDB flat? Thanks!

Dear sir/mdm,

You maybe eligible for grants since you have not gotten any before, however, it will be subjective to your income, regulations and situation by that time. Since you are a private property owner now, base on current regulations, you will not be eligible to purchase any BTO until you have disposed your interest in the condo and wait for a period of 30 months.

Hi,

As you own private property at the moment, you are not eligible to apply for subsidized housing until after you have sell off your condo and wait out 30 months. If you have already turned 35 years old, and is singaporean citizen, you can purchase resale HDB now no issue, but there will be no grants available since you are coming from private property. You will also be required to sell off the condo within 6 months after key collection to the resale HDB.

I would like to compliment Mr Ivan Ng for his professional work and effort.I sent my first post in Jan 2019 and Ivan replied promptly, so I have decided to contact Ivan for follow up. As you currently own a private property, you are not eligible to apply for a BTO flat. You will need to dispose off your condo, and then wait out a period of 30 months, before you're eligible to apply for a BTO. This is also subjected to you forming a valid family nucleus and meeting all other eligibility conditions.
