There is no way to reduce/avoid 5% ABSD purchase for PR household purchase for resale hdb. Another thing to note is that both PRs need to hold PR status for at least 3 years before they can apply. Thanks and hope to assist further.

Btw do take note that in order for SPRs to be eligible to purchase a resale HDB, both SPR must fulfill SPR status for at least 3 years respectively.

Lastly, as of now there's no way to avoid ABSD as SPR household unless one of you turns Singaporean.

As SPR buyers, both of you must have fulfilled 3 years of SPR status before you will be eligible. As for the ABSD, it cannot be avoided unless one of you becomes citizen.

Firstly please take not that both of you must be SPRs for at least 3 years before applying. As for ABSD, unfortunately there is no means of avoiding it. However looking at things are a more micro perspective, you may want to explore this concept. You may wish to work alongside a professional to equipt yourself with the up to date sales caveats/ indicative valuations etc so that you are in a better negotiating position and could potentially end up saving the 5% with the careful and professional planning of an agent research prior to offer and negotiating skills.
