hi,
i am SPR family and currently own a HDB fully paid.
my singapore citizenship has been rejected, although we would like to be. i'm under joint-tenancy for my hdb with my wife. we would like to buy a condo.
i would like to legally do what is possible - can i transfer my hdb ownership to my wife and buy another condo under my name ? is that allowed or any other options - pls suggest/advise

Dear sir/madam,

SPR households are unable to hold both HDB and condo. Decoupling for HDB is no longer allowed (https://www.propertyguru.com.sg/property-guides/hdb-decoupling-not-permissible-10046) therefore in your existing situation, you will probably need to sell your existing HDB before you purchase a condo.

Is there a compelling reason to hold on to the existing HDB in this instance?

Hi,

Unfortunately SPR family household is not allowed to hold both HDB and condo concurrently, they will need to sell off their HDB within 6 months of purchasing the condo.

It may be better to sell first before buying so to avoid the ABSD upfront as well. I have worked on similar cases and would be happy to assist and share the best approach for your scenario.

If SPR want to buy a private property , SPR will have to sell their hdb.
