Hi,

I am not sure about the new regulations, thus would like to seek some experts.

I would like to purchase an EC with my mother, however, my bf has bought a hdb under single scheme 4 years back. In such a situation, in the event if i get married, do I have to sell my EC away or he has to sell his HDB flat away? Is it possible to keep both units?

I understand that the MOP is 5 years for both EC or HDB.

Also, how much is the downpayment for an EC unit?

Thank you.

Hi,

Regarding the 1st enquiry, I might need a bit more details, is it convenient that we discuss more over email?

For downpayment of EC, it is 5% cash (minimum) and 15% cpf, and about 3% for legal fees and stamp duties, assuming you can get 80% bank loan.

Thanks and hope to speak to you soon to understand your housing requirements further.

Warm regards,

Hi, in the event if you do get married, both of you can only keep 1 and sell the other.

Evening,

If you are getting new EC, you can opt to stay for 5 years and let it become privatized. Then when you get married, your husband to be will be allowed to keep his HDB unit. But if you are looking at getting married in near future, it would be advisable to work things out in detail. As long as your EC have not being privatized, one of you would have to sell after their HDB property. In your case, it would be likely your husband-to-be.
