Hi. I am currently the sole owner of a hdb flat. My spouse is an essential occupier. Is it possible to switch? I become the essential occupier and my spouse becomes the owner.

Hi,

Its not so straightforward as you need to apply to HDB to request change of ownership and reasons for doing so. If appeal successful, your spouse has to refund the CPF utilized + accrued interest that you have used for the property, as well as paying the relevant buyer stamp duties. If she needs to take a loan to finance property you also need to get an indication for the bank / hdb loan attainable. If your intent is to get a private property, if the MOP is met, you can try to buy under your spouse's name instead. To get home loan for her you can also consider to do pledging of financial assets or show funds method. I am contactable at 97432395  for further discussion.

Hi,

1) I'm afraid it is not that simple to do just a switch.
2) The CPF board, HDB, and legal have to be involved in order to do a switch. This is assuming the HDB agreed to your request.
3) Unless you have strong and valid reasons why you cannot be an owner anymore, and both of you cannot be owners together as well.
4) You may submit your appeal to the HDB with your reasons and supporting documents.
