Hi, I am a SPR since 2014 and looking to buy a house soon. Trying to figure out what kind of properties i am eligible to buy in Singapore. With so many source of info around its a bit confusing, specially the difference between Condo and an EC, Help!

Good afternoon buyer,

Let me share some information on what kind of housing you are eligible as a SPR.

You will be eligible to purchase a HDB with a Singaporean spouse (if any) now. If your spouse is a SPR, both of you must fulfill SPR status of 3 years before you can purchase a resale HDB which means you cant do so now not even as a single SPR.

As for EC, you are only eligible to apply for a new one with your Singaporean spouse. If not, you are only eligible to purchase a resale EC (more than 5 years old) by yourself or with your SPR spouse now.

As for private condo, you are eligible to purchase as a single or married couple.

Hi,

For ECs from developers, only applicants with at least 1 SC will qualify. SPR households are not eligible. For private condos, SPR households are eligible, however, stamp duties of 8% will apply. What are your plans? Thanks and hope to discuss further and value-add.
