Hi, I am a second timer and looking to upgrade to EC. 1st unit sold off in 2012, bought a resale unit from mkt. If were to book a unit now, need advise to know when is the actual payment of resale levy to be made? Is it under the HDB approval process or after S&P issued by developer?

Dear Buyer

The resale levy ranges from $15k to $50k depending on the flat type. It will be paid upon completion of sale for your resale unit.

Hi,

I assume your 1st unit sold in 2012 is subsidized BTO bought direct from HDB? If so, you need to settle the resale levy in cash before S&P can be issued to you.

Good morning Ec upgrader,

From what you have mentioned, your 1st unit should be BTO (subsidised unit) while second HDB is purchased without housing grant right?

Stated on HDB website. Resale levy is payable in cash before taking possession of the second subsidised flat which is EC in this case.

It may be good to do up a financial plan to see whether upgrading to an EC is a good option since you will need to pay the resale levy in cash during the booking process.

Once we get the financial figures figured out, you can consider whether to get an EC or a resale EC or even a private condo. There will be more options to choose from if the resale EC or private condo options are possible.
