Hi, I am a SC looking to buy a private property with my husband who is a foreigner. However I am a joint owner with my parents in a HDB flat that they are occupying. Can I purchase a 2nd property or do I have to remove my name as joint owner? Thanks

Good evening Michelle, you will be eligible to purchase a private property if you have fulfilled the MOP for your current HDB. But do take note that you will be subject to 15% ABSD if you decide to purchase a condo with your foreigner spouse. But you will not be subject to 15% ABSD if you remove your name from your current HDB as IRAS will treat the private condo as your matrimonial house. With removal of name, you have to make sure that your parents are able to refund you the amount of $$$ you have fork out for current house. Hope it helps!
