Hi, I am 32 years old Singaporean . My name in hdb with my mother because she stop working 10 years ago so I add my name to pay. Now I am married I want to change this hdb(3room) to five room with my mother and husband . Is this possible ? Because some people say my mother can't because she old already.? I want her name also

Is your hubby a SC or SPR?

You can upgrade to a bigger HDB with your hubby. Just wondering why are you thinking of adding her as one of the owners?

Hi,

It is possible to co-own the HDB together as 3 owners for the next HDB, but actually your mum's name need not be necessary as your spouse and your name is sufficient to form the family nucleus and to take the loan (if any)

Hi,

1) Not sure what was the special reason you want to add your mother's name in your purchase.
2) Otherwise, to minimize trouble in the future. My suggestion is to use only yours and your hubby's name as the owner rather than add your mother in.
3) Even if your hubby is a foreigner, you are still able to buy under the Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme and able to buy any flat type in resale.
4) You could list your mother as an occupier so that in the future when your mother prefers to stay by herself, she can opt to buy a 2-rm Flexi lease BTO.
5) There is no reason you can't add in your mother's name even if she has no contribution to financing the flat.
6) Putting in as owner doesn't mean that the person must have financed the purchase. Only that she will be bound by the MOP and unable to apply the 2-rm BTO during this 5 yrs period.

From your question, I would assume that you plan to sell your current flat you co own with your mom and want to upgrade to a bigger flat but at the same time wants to include your mom as a co-owner of the new flat along with your husband. This is totally possible despite your mom age. I am assuming the complication might arise if you plan to take a HDB loan. As HDB requires all the owners to be named as one of the applicant for HDB loan, the problem does not arise with your mother's age but her status. HDB does not allow any one of the owner to take more than 2 HDB loans previously to apply for another HDB loan. If your mother has ever taken a HDB loan for her previous houses before settling in your current house, she will no longer be eligible for another HDB loan which will affect you and husband eligibility to apply for a HDB loan too.
