Hi,

For resale HDB,
You can only sign on the OTP and secure the unit when you turn 35, ie. Aug 2016. You may want to start house-hunting 2-3 months before, hence probably May/June 2016 onwards.

For BTO, singles 35 and above can only book 2-room flats in non-mature estates (for eg. sengkang punggol etc.). They also need to ballot and for the past year it has been many times oversubscribed (ie. lower chance to get a unit you want). You also need to wait typically 2-3 years before you can collect keys since it takes time to build. However, prices are relatively cheaper than resale flats.

If you cannot wait till Aug 2016, you may wish to consider private condo instead. Thanks and hope to value-add to your housing plans further.

Good afternoon buyer,

1) You are only eligible to ink on the OTP on or after you reach 35 years old. But you can start house hunting probably 1 to 2 months earlier starting from June/ July onwards.

2) You can apply for balance units only when there's a sales of balance launch on HDB website. But you are only eligible for 2rm bto.

3) you need to wait for BTO to be completed while you can move into resale flat after legal completion.

If you decide to sell in future, BTO will give you higher chance of capital appreciation.

4) Single SC are eligible to purchase new 2rm BTO in non mature estate but not eligible for new EC.

Since you dont want to wait that long and have preferred locations to move to, I think resale flat might be a better choice for you.
