By right, no need. However for some private properties (esp those below 500K), the agent representing the seller may not want to cobroke with the buyer agent because of low commission returns after splitting 50/50 with the buyer agent. As such, the buyer will miss out the chance to see this property. However if the buyer would to give his agent commission, he would get to see this house.

Hi Paul,

No, buyer need not pay commission to his agent for purchase of private property. Buyer's agent will take a cut from seller's agent, which we call as "co-broke".
