As much as ECs and Condominiums offer the same lifestyle in terms of facilities, they do differ in flexibility and prestige. While ECs follow more on the HDB regulations - 5 years MOP & restriction to selling to foreigners before 10 years, condominiums are generally flexible and more prestigious. I always advise my clients that as long as their finances allow them to swing the condo way, I would advise for that. This is because condos have a greater rate of returns- high rental yield & capital appreciation. Hence the financial objectives of gain is met at an exponentially faster pace with condo than EC.
