Hi, gotten completion date from HDB and seller agent is asking to defer completion date. In such situation, if I were to allow, are there any repercussions on my end that I have to bear? My concern is I don’t wish for the monthly home loan to start yet when house is still under previous owner stay. Please advise!!

What is your concerns if u were to agree with the delay in completion date? Are your subsequent plans going to be affected by this delay? Logistically and financially, it will not impact you as you have mentioned since your home repayment will not kick in until the legal completion takes place. Read More

Hi,

1) Your mortgage will not start until the completion of the sale.
2) So, your concern is not valid.
3) There are many reasons to delay the completion date. Those buyers who will be affected are those who are selling at the same time as buying or paying rentals.
4) They will have a timeline to meet or to incur additional costs for a delay.
5) The 2024 lunar new year is on the 2nd week of Feb. 2 weeks before and after the holiday will be expecting a shortage of renovation materials and workers.
6) If the delay is mainly to address the holidays issue, then, you will have to discuss with your ID and/or renovation contractor to see whether such delay affects your schedule.

Please give me a thumbs-up if the answer provided is relevant to your main concern. Thanks!!!
