Hi Ron,

Yes single SC can purchase resale HDB that has fulfilled MOP of 5 years, and the single SC needs to be at least 35 years old and above. Once married, typically HDB will require her to remove her name from her HDB that she owns with parents, or you will be required to sell off your flat. You can't keep both HDB as both of you are considered one married entity family nucleus.

Hi Ron,

Single Singapore Citizen age 35 and above can purchase resale HDB of 4 room flat that has met the MOP. Should the purchaser get married later to a SPR who already owns another HDB, then HDB will require either the SPR or yourself to sell off either of the HDB, or the SPR spouse can withdraw the ownership in the other HDB if the remaining owners are eligible to own a HDB on their own through necessary family nucleus as well as financially able to do so.

Each married couple will only be entitled to 1 HDB flat. Hope the above helps!

Yes, if you are single and above 35 years old you can buy. However, once you got married, either your wife will have to withdraw her name from the parents flat or you would have to dispose your property, one married couple can only own 1 HDB.

Hi Ron,

1) A Single SC at and above 35 years old is allowed to buy any resale flat types except multi-gen in any location.
2) If buys at 4-rm or smaller, he will be eligible for the single citizen grant of $40k, PHG & EHG whichever is relevant.
3) But when buying 5-rm, the single citizen grant will be reduced to $25k.
4) When buying a 5-rm and smaller flat, the single SC is also eligible for the HDB loan as long as household income does not exceed $7k/month.
5) A family nucleus cannot own more than one HDB flat other than during the interim period of the buying and selling process.
6) This is applicable to all owners and occupiers.
7) So after marriage, the SPR must not have any ownership in another flat other than with the flat that the spouse owns.
8) You have to find out the details of the SPR financial situation with the current flat so that arrangements can be made before entangling in an awkward situation after married.
