"All owners and occupiers listed in the flat application must occupy the flat for a minimum period of 5 years before you may do the following, subject to the respective prevailing eligibility conditions:

- Apply for an HDB Flat Eligibility (HFE) letter
- Sell the flat on the open market
- Rent out the whole flat
- Invest in private property, both local and overseas

The MOP starts from the day your flat purchase is legally completed, excluding any period of non-occupation of the flat." Read More

- As a Singapore PR, you can buy Malaysia commercial property since there are no restrictions based on HDB ownership or MOP status in Singapore.
- Owning an HDB and not meeting the 5-year MOP doesn’t affect your ability to purchase property outside Singapore. However, always check Malaysia’s property guidelines for foreign buyers.
- Keep in mind any financing or loan limitations that could apply when purchasing property overseas.
