Hi,

Singles cannot buy EC that is still within MOP period, you need to form family nucleus. Singles (SC or SPR) can buy the resale EC that has fulfilled the MOP of 5 years no issue.

My EC was not ready for sale due to MOP (another 3 months from Jan) at that time and Ivan was able to give me advices on how to proceed from there. Initially we have decided to try to write to HDB for early sale but since it was only 3 months left, eventually we waited for another 3 months while we looked for our next property. single SC or SPR will be eligible to purchase a resale EC within 5 years MOP thus you wont be eligible to buy as it is still within its MOP (obtained special approval to sell).

I regret to inform you that you're not eligible to purchase a EC that the first owners had not met the MOP. Such units will require you to form a valid family nucleus with at least 1 Singapore Citizen before you can purchase it.

You may however consider resale ECs that the first owners had fulfilled the 5-year MOP.

Hi,

1) A new EC and ECs subsale or received approval to sell before MOP is under the HDB policy requirement.
2) Only Joint Singles, Orphans, and a family nucleus are eligible to buy. You can see that all these schemes have at least 2 applicants.
3) Therefore a single person (SC/SPR) can only buy ECs that had completed MOP which will no longer be under the HDB jurisdiction.
