Hi agents, I am turning 35 years old in about 6 months time. I am single, hence the only option available for me to buy a HDB is via the Singles scheme.
However, I would like to start my purchase as soon as possible. I would like to know if it is possible to escalate my buying procedure to not have to wait until my 35th birthday to start? Can I appeal to any avenues to be able to start my purchase and to exercise OTP option? i.e. MP, HDB?
I have a valid reason as I am currently renting a place on my own, due to dysfunctional family matters that did not allow me to be able to continue staying at my parents residence. I am having alot of anxiety as the prices of the resale market keeps escalating and this has been detrimental towards my mental health. I am worried that my budget would not be able to afford after 6 months.
thank you.

Good morning Sir/ Mdm,

Hope you understand that you can only register your intent to buy and receive an option to purchase on or after your birthday.

You can try to appeal to HDB based on your reasons but do take note it will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

Under the Single Singapore Citizen Scheme, you can only register your Intent to Buy once you are 35-years-old, HDB will not grant any exemptions as the rules are clearly stated.

Have you considered renting a room in the time being while waiting to register your Intent to Buy?

Sincerely,

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. Hope you're coping well.

You may wish to write in an appeal to HDB regarding this matter. Approval will be on a case-by-case basis.
