Asked by
Hello! I’m trying to apply for a HFE letter and is in the midst of doing so. I have been running a home based bakery at home and have earned some money from it as a part time job, while working another as a full time. I listed both job during application and now HDB is asking for payslip for the home based business. How do I produce it? Or should I not list it as a job during application?
Thank you!

Hi, is your part time job reported in your income tax reporting? If you wish to include the income into your HFE to get more loan, you can perhaps call into HDB and ask if a summary of your sales transaction with the invoices(such as payments received) will do to prove the income.

If you are currently planning to go on a property journey selling/buying/renting/investing, I can be of assistance. Do feel free to reach out to me for more queries and assistance.

Hi Mei Jin,

You may furnish your NOA on this or call up HDB to find out how you can go about furnishing these income proof.

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 14 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

We are offering our clients a complimentary first consultation without obligations (Absolutely FREE!). Schedule for your FREE session today!

Since you're already in the application process and HDB is requesting payslips for your home-based bakery, here's how you can approach it:

Option 1: Provide Documentation for your Home Bakery Income

Track Records: If you have good records of your income from the bakery, you can present them to HDB instead of a payslip. This could include:

Bank statements showing deposits from bakery sales.
Invoices or receipts issued to customers.
Records of online transactions (if applicable).
Tax filing documents (if you filed taxes for your bakery income).
Explain the Situation: Write a clear explanation to HDB stating your home bakery is a part-time venture and you don't have formal payslips. Attach your income records as evidence.

Option 2: Contact HDB for Guidance

Call the HDB Contact Centre at 6100 1000  and explain your situation.
Ask them if alternative documentation besides payslips would be acceptable as proof of income from your home bakery.
Important Note:

It's generally not advisable to withhold information during an HDB application process. Transparency is key.
Additional Tips:

If your bakery income is minimal and doesn't significantly impact your overall financial picture, you can highlight this to HDB in your explanation.
Emphasize your full-time job with payslips as your primary source of income.
By providing alternative documentation or seeking clarification from HDB, you can hopefully address their request and proceed with your HFE letter application.

Hi Mei Jin,

1) In order for the HDB to recognize your income, this income must be reported to the IRAS.
2) If you didn't do it earlier, then it is difficult for you to do it now. As this income is not registered anywhere.
3) If you have registered a company to run this home-based business, the IRAS would have approached you to submit your income.
4) According to your descriptions, it looks like you did not plan to make it official so I'm afraid that the HDB would not take your word for how much you had made during the past years.
5) Since it is impossible to turn back the clock, I would suggest you not include that income during your HFE application.

Please give me a thumbs-up if the answer provided is relevant to your main concern. Thanks!!!
