Hi, appreciate your sharing. It depend what are your plan, don't think 2 room flexi is able to rent out. For resale HDB 3 room, you are able to rent out 1 common room after HDB completion.

Hi

To add on further on my previous reply, you are only eligible for 2 room flexi if you are above 55 years of age. If you are below 55 but above 35 years of age, you are only eligible to apply for a 2 room BTO with full 99 years lease. However looking at the application statistics, the application rate of such categories is very high and HDB tends to prioritise seniors for 2 room BTOs. 2 room BTO bought with short lease are not allowed to be rented out. 2 room BTO or resale with full 99years lease can only be rented out after 5 years MOP is reached. You will need to be 35 years old minimally to be eligible. It can be rented out upon meeting the 5 years Minimum Occupation Period if the unit is not purchased with short lease basis.

Hi,

1) You have to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria listed by the HDB before submitting an application.
2) You may run through the HFE to check your eligibility and loan amount to confirm it.
3) Both BTO and resale will need to observe the 5yrs MOP after the purchase before you can rent it out.
4) Honestly, to get a BTO will take about 2~3 years for a successful application, meaning have a chance to select.
5) Then it takes another 3~5 yrs before it is ready for collection. So all-in-all, it will be at least 5~8 yrs later to get the key for the flat.
6) Plus another 5 yrs of MOP. You will only be able to rent it out 10 yrs from now if you are lucky, otherwise, it could be 13 yrs later.
7) Buying a resale, means that you would be able to rent it out in 5 yrs' time.
8) And the above is assuming you are buying the 99yrs leasehold type since the flexi-leased flats are not eligible to rent out.
9) So you should ask yourself which timeline is more suitable for you.
