Good morning Anirudhan,

Frankly speaking, it's not easy to rent an unit for just 6 months because most landlords will prefer 1 to 2 years.

So you need more time to search for one and must be prepared to pay higher rental due to the short term lease. If not you can opt for service apartment.

As for bigger apartment, it should be easier if you are going for at least 1 year lease.

Do share more requirements and preferred locations so I can advise you further.

Btw do take note that commission are payable.

1 year lease - 0.5 month rental
2 years lease - 1 month rental

I have many client in the same situation like you when their spouse and family will only join them after 6 mths. You might want to consider staying in a serviced apartment for the first few months before they come. This also ensure that your wife have a chance to view the house with you during one of her trip within the few months. Secondly, you avoid setting up of internet and utilities if you stay in the serviced apartment. Let me know where is your office so that I can do the recommendation.
