Go through the documents to find out what are required and if anything differs, please call up HDB to find out if any alternatives can be arranged. Agents here are not dealing with BTOs therefore we are not in a right position to advise this subject matter. From my understanding, there are several documents to be signed, therefore I am unsure if appointing a power of attorney can be done if spouse is unavailable at selection date.

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 14 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

My Answer with regards to your Question:

In the context of a Built-to-Order (BTO) flat application in Singapore, after obtaining a ballot number, there is generally no specific requirement for both spouses to be physically present during subsequent processes, such as the selection of the flat or the signing of the Agreement for Lease.

However, it's essential to note the following points:

Authorization Forms: In cases where one spouse cannot be present, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) provides authorization forms that allow one spouse to represent both parties in the various stages of the BTO application process. These forms typically need to be filled out and signed by both spouses.

Communication with HDB: If one spouse cannot be present for certain stages due to work or other reasons, it's advisable to inform HDB in advance and follow their guidance on the necessary procedures. HDB may provide alternative arrangements or solutions to accommodate such situations.

Responsibility for Information: The spouse who is present or authorized to represent both parties will be responsible for receiving information, making decisions, and signing documents on behalf of the household. It's crucial for both spouses to be in agreement on decisions related to the BTO application.

Legal Implications: Ensure that all decisions and actions taken during the BTO application process are in compliance with legal requirements. If in doubt, seeking advice from HDB or consulting with a legal professional can provide clarification.

To get specific and up-to-date information tailored to your situation, it's recommended to contact HDB directly. They can guide you on the necessary steps and provide any forms or documentation required when one spouse is unable to be present due to work or other reasons.

Pls call me to run through the case on a consultation basis to be more EFFICIENT & EFFECTIVE, Easier to SOLVE ISSUES based on DISCUSSION Route of going through POSSIBLE DIFFERENT POSSIBLE SCENARIOS.

Unfortunately, this platform doesn't allow me to direct contact you.

Hi for BTO,

It will be best to check directly with HDB itself as agents do not deal with the BTO processes.
