For a HDB up-grader,
Must He/She sell the HDB first, then buy a new condo or he/she needs to pay ABSD?
Is there any arrangement to buy first then sell or hold both unit ( HDB and private) but avoid ABSD?

Hi Vincent,

For HDB upgrader, you can choose to buy first then sell or sell first then buy.

But if you choose to buy first or hold on to both properties, you have to incur ABSD for second property. But ABSD will claw back if you sell off your HDB within 6 months from keys collection date.

If you does not want to come out with ABSD first, you may choose to sell off your HDB first followed by condo purchase.

If your intention is to avoid ABSD, then I'm afraid that you got to sell the HDB first before you purchase a private unit.
