Dear Gurus,

If I am earning a little more than $6000 a month, am I allowed to buy a re-sale flat?

I know I won't qualify for Singles Grant, but I still can buy a re-sale, right?

Hi,

Yes you can purchase resale hdb, however you are not eligible for Singles Grant or HDB loan. You can only take bank loan for the purchase.

Other things to be careful of would be to buy from a owner with no complicated house history (such as loanshark etc.) and getting a bank loan IPA (in principal approval) before commencing the house hunting. It will be ideal to appoint an agent who can work with you throughout the process and manage things professionally for you. I have just closed a case where my buyer are in your similar situation. Being 35 and earning slightly more than $6k, I have managed to appeal for HDB loan and housing grant. However, this would be subjected to individual assessment by HDB.

Not to worry, you are still eligible to purchase resale HDB under single singapore citizen scheme just that you might not be able to obtain hdb loan or housing grant due to the income ceiling.

But since you mentioned that your income is slightly above $6k, you might want to consider to appeal first to see whether can you take up either one.
