Dear Experts,

I am a Singapore PR(Malaysian) and my wife is Singapore CItizen. We are planning to apply for BTO but I already have a property in Malaysia under my name which my parents are currently living. Is there any way I can go ahead with purchasing a HDB but still keep the property in Malaysia since my parents are the one living in it?

Hi Rama,

1) This is possible.
2) I suggest you appeal to the HDB to get a black and white before your BTO application.
3) Stating this property is for your parents' own stay and not for profit purposes.
4) You may submit your appeal via the feedback channel available;

Hi Sir,

As you currently own a private property, you're not eligible to apply for a BTO flat, unless you sell off the private property and then wait out a 30-month period.

You can however purchase a HDB resale flat (without CPF housing grant) under Public Scheme. You may wish to write in to HDB for you to keep your oversea property. I think your chances are quite good.
