Currently, my wife and I both are PR. I plan to buy a resale hdb under my name and my wife as a occupier.
Maybe 1 or 2 years later, my wife got Sg citizenship. She will apply for BTO which she will be the owner and I will be the occupier.
So we will have 2 HDB. Will it allow?

Hi,
The first thing to check is how long have you been a PR?

Next is PRs must be a couple to buy an HDB flat. You cannot own 2 HDB flats.

Third is, if you plan to buy a private flat after the HDB MOP, then, you need to sell your HDB flat... so, please plan carefully.

Hi,

1) Even a married SC couple cannot own their HDB flats separately, this is because a married couple is considered as a single entity in the eyes of the HDB.
2) Regarding the near future of applying for BTO. You will have to complete the 5-year MOP together with your wife for this resale flat before eligible to apply for a BTO because your wife is an essential occupier in the formula.
3) She will be able to apply the BTO together with you as an essential occupier.
4) Once you complete the 5-year MOP with your wife in the BTO, you will be able to buy a private residential property under your name only.
5) So that you will only incur the 5% ABSD instead of the 30%.
6) Do note that your CPF cannot be utilized when you are listed as an occupier. So you will do your financial planning carefully whether this is workable for both of you.

Good day to you,

Married couples are considered as a single entity and each entity is eligible to own one set of HDB housing. Do also note that both SPR must be at least 3 years into SPR holding before you are eligible for purchase of resale HDB housing.

Also, when you purchase a resale HDB flat, both of you will be required to serve a 5-year (or 10-year for Prime/Plus flats in the future), before you're eligible to apply for a new BTO flat.
