Hi

To my knowledge, there is no restrictions for singles in buying an adjoining unit under the conversion scheme. However the process in doing so in not quite clear cut as mutual agreement need to be made with you neighbour and is subject to HDB approval. In addition, it is most probable that HDB will require you to discharge your current loan for your current unit if you have not fully paid for the unit yet. Hi,

You have to take note of the below to purchase an adjoining 3rm flat:

1) Buying 2 flats and adjoined together is known as Conversion scheme:
https://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/residential/buying-a-flat/resale/eligibility-

2) You CANNOT buy under a single scheme. You MUST form a family nucleus with 1 of the following groups:
(a) spouse and children (if any) or
(b) parents and siblings (if any) or
(c) Children under your legal custody care and control (for widowed/divorced person)

3) Finance: Ensure you have sufficient funds for both flats.

4) Grant: Grants only available up to 5-rm only. Thus you won't be able to apply for a single grant. However, you are still eligible for a proximity grant.

5) Application process: You have to indicate "conversion" in your application & key in the 2 flats addresses that you intend to buy under the e-Resale System.

6) To ensure you won't encounter any problem in the whole process. You may submit an inquiry to HDB before you commit to the purchase.
