Both myself and my wife are SPR. We applied for resale HDB in Jan this year. The resale transaction is set to complete on 23-May-2022. However, I just became SC and already got my pink IC last week. Will it affect my application? Do I still need to pay for 5% ABSD?

Hi Koh CW,

1) The payment of buyer stamp duty is within 2 weeks upon approval from the HDB.
2) If you already passed this stage means that everything is final and no return.
3) Otherwise you may raise your concern to your lawyer to see whether it is possible to avoid this cost.
4) By law, the stamp duty is based on when you exercise the OTP. This is the point where the IRAS judges whether you are subject to the ABSD.
5) Thus now is just to appeal but the chance of success is quite slim.
6) Your changes in resident status do not affect the eligibility thus will not affect your application.
