It was the agent who helped you secured this buyer.
Even though the transaction did not go thru, you have gained 1% of the selling price, FROM HIS EFFORT TO BRING IN THAT BUYER.
You need to share 50% of this 1% with your agent.
He (agent) might have to share with the cobroke agent, if any.
