We were mislead into signing some documents (found out it was known as PDI) and gave a cheque to the developer sales team though we had not fulfilled the MOP of our HDB flat. The sales team promised verbally additional perks and upfront rebate which they mentioned will be included in the OTP when we gave them a cashier order (CO). Sounding fishy, we requested for a copy of the signed PDI before we gave them the CO. However, they refused and insisted that we gave the CO first, and later told us the perks no longer valid. Feeling cheated, we told them we are no longer interested since the perks were withdrawn. They tore our cheque into pieces and demanded that we wrote an apology letter and pay 1.25% of the property price for forfeiture. I will like to seek the advices from the experts here whether are we liable to pay the 1.25%? Thanks.
