We both first timer singaporean,own a private condo,now we are think to downgrade to HDB,Someone said that, we need to wait 2.5 years after selling our condo , before we can apply a New BTO or buying resale HDB ,Is this true?

Good morning, let me clarify your doubts. Yes you have to observe 30 months waiting period after you sell off your private property BEFORE you can apply for a BTO. But if you are looking at resale HDB purchase, you can purchase it first then sell off your private property within 6 months from resale HDB completion date (but cannot take CPF housing grant). Hi, if you are applying for new BTO, you need to sell off your pte condo 30 months before you can apply. If you purchase a resale HDB, you will be required to sell your condo within 6 months of purchasing your HDB flat. So New HDB and REsale HDB rules are different. Dear sir/madam, Private home owners are ineligible from purchasing a BTO unit direct from HDB but they are free to make purchases in the resale HDB market. As a downgrader, what you will need to ensure will be the eligibility to purchase under the various HDB schemes, assuming that financially you are sound to do so. You will be required to relinquish your ownership of the private property within a period of 6 months after taking possession of the HDB unit, and that Seller's Stamp Duty maybe applicable to the sale of your private property depending on when you purchase this private property. Upon taking possession of the HDB unit, you will be required to fulfil a 5years Minimum Occupation Period, where you will be ineligible to purchase any form of private residential properties. Do consider carefully about such plans as I have met clients who regretted making this move. Perhaps you may wish to share more on why are you planning this downgrade.
