Understand that if someone buys a new flat from HDB, or buy from resale market with CPF grant, MOP of 5 years has to be fulfilled before he/she is allowed to buy private property.

So, what if he/she has already owned a private property beforehand, is the owner still allowed to buy new flat from HDB or from resale market with CPF grant? And does it apply to overseas property?

Hi Sean,

If you are existing a private residential property owner, you are allowed to purchase a resale HDB without grant. You are ineligible to purchase a brand new HDB or resale HDB with housing grant, unless you have already sold off your private property for after a 30months window and is also applicable to overseas properties. Within 6 months of completion of your purchase of resale HDB, you will be required to dispose off all private residential properties including overseas ones.
