Has landlord accepted your deposit? Do you have a salesperson acting for you in this rental? For a typical rental transaction, my practise is always to secure the security deposit addressed to the landlord together with a letter of intent before presenting the offer to landlord, therefore once landlord accepts the security deposit and signs on the letter of intent to accept this offer, he or she will be legally binded to rent the apartment to you subjected to tenancy agreement in most cases.
