Problem-free period
My TA has a 30-day problem-free period. During this time, a door lock suddenly did not work and needed a replacement. No one did anything to it when it stopped work, but perhaps it was >30 years old. Now landlord concludes that the lock was damaged after I moved in, so it must be my fault. He forces me to pay for the new lock because he claims the problem-free period covers only "defect" not "damage". Please explain if his claim is legally ligitimate. Thanks.
