My husband (SPR, Malaysian) and I (SC) bought a resale HDB without grant a few years back. 22 months after we bought the HDB, we had a job opportunity at overseas and we moved before fulfilling MOP. HDB has been granting us subletting approval ever since we are overseas for 3 years. In the most recent subletting renewal, HDB told us that this is the final time they approve the subletting and we have to return by end of next year. My questions are:
1) Will we be forced to sell the HDB? We are working as temporary visa at overseas and have intention to return Singapore, just not by end of next year.
2) If subletting is not approved, can I let my family/relatives to live in there without rent?
Bottomline, We want to keep the HDB because we are working temporary at overseas. We don't even have a house or permanent residence status at overseas. So if anything happens to our job, we have to leave the country within a short period of time & to find ourselves without a safety net to fallbk.

Morning,

A few of my clients have the same issue. They were being assigned overseas and rental of their HDB, prior fulfilling MOP have being granted up to max of 4 years. Most of them who have intention to return opt to keep their unit vacant. Getting your parents or family member to stay in the unit does not con tribute to the MOP requirement. As for those who do not have the intention to return back to SG, the HDB have actually bought back the unit.
