Just to check, if I have a condo unit for own stay and currently also have HDB occupying 1 room, kitchen and hall (may sell it later) and intend to rent out 2 rooms, Is HDB allow to do that? We will do the normal stamping and get approval from HDB for room rental. Question, must Owner of HDB compulsory to stay HDB (bought 10 yrs) and only rent out Condo unit?

If you are SC and HDB is more than 5 years, yes you can stay in one and rent out either hdb or condo, not an issue.

As you have fulfilled MOP requirement, you do not need to be physically staying at the HDB unit during period of rental.
As you are doing room rental, you do not need apply for approval before renting out it out.

Hi Lilian,

The minimum occupation period of a HDB is 5 years from the date of purchase. Once you have fulfil these 5 years, you may rent out the unit completely. It will make more financial sense for you to rent out the whole unit instead of doing room rental in the long run. Renting out the whole unit is also more hassle free for you.
