Hi,

1) Buying an HDB flat has a lot of restrictions.
2) You may do decoupling so that your spouse does not own any property, but cannot change his marital status.
3) When a married couple buys an HDB flat, the spouse must be at least the essential occupier, thus the idea of buying with only your in-law does not work.
4) If there is sufficient budget after decoupling you may consider a private instead.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Dear Buyer,
If your idea of selling the EC is to later own 2 properties, then, the BEST and only way is to decouple after your EC turns 5 years. Then, one of you buy a private condo or apartment. This way, you do not face the restrictions that comes with HDB where married couples need to use both their names as owner/occupiers.

To know how best to do it, please call me.
Cheers!
