It is not that I do not like agents. Some agents turn out to be my best of friends. I need to save on agent's fees because this is my first rental contract and I need to spend on furnishings and appliances. Hence, I need to do it DIY. Being retired, I have time on my side. However, I do not have a database of potential renters. Neither do I know how to prepare a contract of rental. I just want some guidance and information so that I can work on my own and save some money. The question is : Do I have a choice? Eg. Is there somewhere that I subscribe to for information?

Thanks for your input.

#1 - As real estate professionals, we are equipped with the tools, platforms and network to reach out to potential tenants or fellow professionals with potential tenants and do your matching according in an instance. In comparison to what you have described on your non-existent database, you will be starting from ground zero. Your rental income starts the moment your apartment has been tenanted, therefore even if you are not in a rush and has time on your end to manage the whole process, every month you wait is 1 month rental income loss. What makes it worse is that you have already mentioned that you are not proficient in terms of executing the whole rental process, and what happens in the unfortunate scenario that you come across a tenant that takes advantage of you due to this lack of knowledge in paperworks and execution?

We understand that it is not a small amount of money when it comes to the service fees applicable, however, considering the potential we can get you enjoy the rental income fast, on top of looking after your interest in the process of rental, you can decide which is the best choice to take in terms of this rental assignment.

There are salesperson who charges premium, there are also salesperson who gives discount, while others are only out to put food on the table for their own family through honest professional work where they charge a nominal fees of half month rent plus GST for every year of rental or part thereof.

A good answer. Indeed, I do hope that the agent I ask for help makes me appreciate the profession even more. Good Luck to me and thank you for your answer. I also thank Mr Ku Swee Yong for his contributions on this topic recently. I do have much to learn and yes, indeed I am short of a database full of rental opportunities.
