Dear sir/madam, Do you mean purchasing a local project or overseas project? Technically speaking, risk element is present in all projects, from local to overseas, being sold anywhere in the world, as no one can foresee what exactly will happen to the developer through the course of development. Risks is being minimised by studying the background of the developer and looking through its track records and the partners involved in the development. The most important thing I would say will still be your due diligence in making a purchase. Perhaps if I may know which project you are eyeing, I can provide my 2 cents worth of opinion? Hi,
before purchasing the property you may ask for their track records on projects they have constructed in singapore.
Many of the notable foreign real estate developers in Singapore
originate from Japan, Malaysia and more recently,
China. Foreign developers from different countries have
slightly different approaches in their foray into the local
real estate market. Most of them would usually participate
in their first few development projects with one or more
Singaporean partners. This is to minimise risks and to allow
the foreign developers to learn about the local property
development process and environment. When the Japanese
developers found suitable local partners,
Chinese and Malaysian developers also
participate in the Singapore market through joint ventures
with local developers.
