All landlords are encouraged to take up home insurance on the property, including any personal items, fittings and etc for the property. Tenants who take up the rental should also take up their own insurance on their own properties within the rented premises.
If you are referring to commercial or industrial properties, relevant fire safety requirements and inspections will be carried out by the fire safety department to ensure compliance. For residential homes, there is no legislation in place to require for smoke alarms within the property, therefore it will be the initiative of the home owner to do the installation. Any required maintenance works can be coordinated with and agreed upon with the tenant of the property, including who is responsible for the maintenance costs.
