The paperworks and procedures involved are pretty much the same. If you talking about the value of property, Wayne is right that Freehold projects usually will have a premium over 99years leasehold projects. This is also applicable at the time you purchase and sell.

Given a scenario that you are purchasing a property with the age of around 20years, 10years down the road, the holding value of freehold property maybe better than a leasehold property, however, as it will be an old property by then, the demand of such units may likely be similar.

If you are thinking about investing, my advise is to shortlist a unit that is potentially easier to rent out in future.
