Dear Jeffrey,
The question lies within why are you concern about this clause if you do not have any intentions to delay your rental payment on monthly basis such that this clause will not have any chance to kick in? I would say it is like a deterrent clause for tenants who pay late consistently (I have met a number of such tenants). Of course, at the end of the day there is no standard legal clause since this is a private agreement between the landlord and tenant, but it could potentially be a deal breaker.
