Based on the rental asking of $1800, I would deem that you are currently staying in 2 room flat. As for renewal of lease, tenants should have reflected their interest 2 to 3 months before the TA expire. If the negotiation does not work out, you would have to move onto another unit.

There are many other places that are available.

If you are not happy with the increase, look elsewhere.

Why is the renewal being communicated SO close to the expiry? It should have been done 2 mths in advance.

If you think you are not going to accept that $500 increase, act now and get another place ASAP.

In fact I have done a rental, viewing 15Jan 2016, contract signed on 17thJan and moved in 25th Jan. Thanks to understanding landlord.

If you act fast, go for vacant unit. Your agent will make haste for you.
