It's not necessary for you to engage someone to be your representative but it might be good to have.
Usually in private transactions, I will get my share of commission from the seller's agent or developer but some of my buyers do give me commission in order to get a better deal (never dual represent - never take commission from the other party).
To have a professional to help you to filter units/ projects according to your requirements/ budget to arrange viewings. It will save you ample time just focusing on viewing the units.
With another pair of eyes to look out for any defects and price negotiation in getting the best deal might be what you need.
Advice on which law firm or loan packages from different banks will be offered in the process as well.
