It is not a violation of PDPA, in fact it is a requirement for agents and landlords to validate the identity of all occupants in the household who will be living in the apartment rented.

Without securing a copy of these documents, we won't be able to proof that we have done our due diligence accordingly.

We have to conduct due diligence checks on behalf of landlord before handing over the unit to tenants.

For property transactions, it's okay to request for copies of NRIC from Singapore or SPR tenants. For foreigners, it will be their work pass.
