I'm looking to invest in a freehold/999yr property in Geylang area as I understand it's got good rental yield. Budget is $600-800k, and looking for at least a 2-bedder with psf not higher than $1k. 1) Do you think Geylang is still considered a good, safe buy? Any one knows whether it is in the governments plan to clean up the area? 2) Many properties are going to TOP in 2015-2016, is it always better to buy before TOP? If yes, why? 3) Any good properties now to view? 4) Is buying from developers always better than buying resale? Other than condition of the unit due to age, what are other benefits? 5) Heard that banks may not be willing to finance a Geylang property. What's the rationale and what can one so in this case? Thanks in advance for your advice.
