There is no direct relationship between having an existing tenancy and buying your own property. If there is any, it is a positive one! The proposed purchase will take time to complete and having a place to stay (current rental) helps takes away or reduce the stress.

Assuming you are clear about what you want to buy and is able to decide fairly quickly, a purchase will take approx 3 to 5 months to complete. Your current rental arangement should cover you for this and perhaps alittle longer.

In fact, it is much better to be staying in a rented place while hunting for your dream home! As soon as you are sure of your purchase, it will take approximately 3 - 5 months for full completion of transaction. After which, you can actually move right in and do up your necessary renovations for your new home.
